Job Roles:
Interns in the HMRC Internship Program 2024 will have the opportunity to work in diverse roles across different departments, including but not limited to:
- Tax Compliance and Investigation: Assisting in tax compliance checks, investigations, and audits to ensure individuals and businesses meet their tax obligations.
- Policy and Strategy Development: Supporting the development and implementation of tax policies and strategies that affect millions of taxpayers.
- Customer Services and Support: Engaging with taxpayers to provide information, support, and guidance on tax-related queries and issues.
- Data Analysis and Research: Conducting data analysis, research, and reporting to support decision-making processes and policy development.
- Digital Services and IT: Assisting in the development and maintenance of HMRC’s digital platforms, helping to improve the user experience for taxpayers.
- Human Resources and Administration: Supporting HR functions such as recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and administrative tasks.
Education Requirements:
- Current undergraduate or recent graduate (within the last two years) in a relevant field such as Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, Business Administration, Information Technology, Data Science, or other related disciplines.
- Strong academic record with a minimum requirement of a 2:1 degree classification (if applicable).
Experience Requirements:
- Previous internships, work placements, or voluntary experiences in relevant fields such as finance, public administration, data analysis, IT, or customer service are advantageous but not mandatory.
- A demonstrated interest in public service, taxation, and governmental operations is desirable.
Skills Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Basic understanding of data analysis tools or software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python) is a plus.
