Job Roles:
Interns will have the opportunity to work in one or more of the following departments, depending on their interests and career goals:
- Community Engagement and Development: Assist with community projects, outreach programs, and engagement activities to promote community well-being.
- Human Resources: Support recruitment, employee relations, training and development, and other HR functions.
- Finance and Accounting: Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting for different council services.
- Environmental Services: Contribute to sustainability and environmental conservation initiatives, including waste management and green space maintenance.
- IT and Digital Services: Provide IT support, help with digital transformation projects, and assist in maintaining digital platforms.
- Planning and Urban Development: Support city planning, housing, and development projects, including data analysis and community consultations.
- Marketing and Communications: Assist in developing content for social media, newsletters, and public relations campaigns to engage with the community.
Education Requirements:
- Applicants should be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a degree in a relevant field such as Public Administration, Environmental Science, Business, IT, Communications, Urban Planning, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of High School qualifications (A-Level, Scottish Highers, or equivalent) is required.
- A demonstrated interest in public service and local government.
Experience Requirements:
- No prior work experience is required; the program is open to entry-level candidates looking to gain experience in a professional environment.
- Previous volunteer work, part-time roles, or internships in a related field will be considered an asset.
Skills Requirements:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic IT skills.
