Position Purpose
The EIS Internship for Graduate Students is designed to provide recent graduates with hands-on experience in a dynamic and high-performance sports environment. The program offers an opportunity to work alongside leading experts in sports science and medicine, contributing to the development and implementation of performance strategies for elite athletes. Interns will gain practical experience, enhance their professional skills, and learn about the multidisciplinary approach that supports the success of British athletes on the global stage.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist EIS practitioners in delivering sports science and medicine services to athletes and coaches.
- Conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting to support athlete performance monitoring.
- Participate in the planning and delivery of training programs, workshops, and performance interventions.
- Work collaboratively with sports scientists, physiotherapists, nutritionists, and other professionals to develop comprehensive performance plans.
- Contribute to research projects and evidence-based practice initiatives to support continuous improvement within the organization.
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and debriefs to understand the practical application of sports science and medicine.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of equipment, facilities, and resources required for service delivery.
- Ensure all practices comply with health and safety regulations, data protection policies, and ethical guidelines.
Education
- A recent graduate (within the last two years) with a degree in Sports Science, Sports Medicine, Physiology, Biomechanics, Nutrition, Psychology, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field will be advantageous but not essential.
Experience
- Prior experience in a sports science, sports medicine, or performance analysis setting is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrable experience in conducting research, data analysis, or providing technical support in a high-performance environment.
- Previous involvement in sports clubs, organizations, or events (e.g., coaching, training support, event management) is an asset.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in using software and technology relevant to sports science and performance analysis (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Dartfish, GPS tracking systems).
- A proactive, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to learning and development.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
